KANSAS CITY, Mo (Reuters) ? Police were searching a well behind a vacant house a few blocks away from missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin's home on Tuesday, one week after the baby disappeared from her bed.
Numerous squad cars and other safety vehicles surrounded the house Tuesday morning. Officials confirmed they were searching a well in a wooden backyard deck.
A neighbor said the house has been vacant for three or four years.
Irwin was last seen at 10:30 p.m. local time on October 3 when her mother, Deborah Bradley, said she put her to bed in her crib. Her father, Jeremy Irwin, told police he came home at 4 a.m the next morning to find Lisa missing, along with the family's three cell phones.
Lisa's bedroom is on ground level of the small house in a neighborhood in north Kansas City. A detective in civilian clothes on Sunday afternoon climbed through the window, but not easily, as other officers observed.
Police and the FBI also have questioned people in the neighborhood and conducted searches of nearby woods and of the landfill where the family's trash is taken. So far, police have reported no solid leads.
Police have not identified the couple or anyone else as suspects. Ashley Irwin, an aunt of the missing child who is acting as the family spokesperson, told Good Morning America that the baby's mother, Deborah Bradley, is preparing to be charged. Irwin said she believes the mother is innocent.
Asked about the report Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said they had no information from detectives indicating the arrest of anyone in the case.
"We are still following up on tips and still continuing the search for Lisa," said Sgt. Stacey Graves, spokesperson, Kansas City Police Department, in an e-mail to Reuters
