So if Germany, Poland, and Italy want to avoid rapid demographic and economic decline, they would have to accept a higher per capita inflow of migrants than the United States for most of the past century. But America was founded as a country of immigrants; one that, whatever the more complicated reality on the ground, has always claimed that an allegiance to the republic?s values was the sole prerequisite for membership. Germany, by contrast, has always defined itself on ethnic lines; even today, many Germans have trouble accepting that somebody who looks black or Turkish could ?really? be German. Poles and Italians, meanwhile, have an even more restrictive sense of national identity: Many still believe that a true Pole or Italian must not only be ethnically Polish or Italian but also Catholic.

Never Mind The Hype, Conversocial?s Latest Hire Points To Real Signs Of Growth In ?Silicon Roundabout?

Naysayers of 'Silicon Roundabout' (or Tech City, to use its UK Government-sanctioned name) can certainly point to some of the giddy PR surrounding the area as evidence of hype. But when you join up the dots, there's a definite sense that we're beginning to see signs of real growth for this tech cluster in the east end of London. And so it is that news comes today of what looks like another impressive hire for a Silicon Roundabout-based startup: Matthew Brazil, who was previously VP of Business Development for Radian6 (which exited to Salesforce for $326m) has joined social customer service outfit Conversocial as VP of Sales. This follows the recent hiring by neighbouring Songkick of former Googler Dan Crow as its CTO.

Mick Brown, Ted Nugent drummer, charged with drunk driving stolen golf cart

(CBS/AP) BANGOR, Maine - Mick Brown, a drummer for classic rocker Ted Nugent, was arrested Sunday after he was allegedly seen driving drunk in a golf cart stolen from a concert venue, police say.

Officers working at Nugent's Sunday night concert were told that 55-year-old Mick Brown was intoxicated, had stolen the golf cart and was driving it recklessly on a foot path. Police say when officers tried to stop the cart, Brown sped past them and shoved a security officer. Two security officers then removed Brown from the cart, and he was arrested.

According to the Bangor Police Department's Facebook page, police saw two women riding with Brown at one point during the incident.

Brown, of Cave Creek, Ariz., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving to endanger, theft and assault. He was released on $4,000 bail.

Apparently the commercial was pretty funny because it made it all the way to the united states (watch below). Even Brad Pitt himself saw it, and Doug says that he got Brad?s blessing before he even took the part. The commercial is for Virgin Mobile and seems to be a sarcastic version of how boring his life is. I?m guessing it?s a play on how much more normal his life is than his brother?s, who jet-sets around with Angelina adopted kids from third world countries. How Colleges Are Becoming Entrepreneurial

Colleges are starting to become startup incubators by offering a variety of classes and programs in order to help students pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions. This is good news for students because employers feel that they should gain entrepreneurship experience before graduating. Many professors are current or former entrepreneurs who act as mentors to students and teach them critical marketing, sales, and operation skills. The Kaufman Foundation estimates that more than 2,000 colleges and universities in the US, two thirds of the total, offer a course in entrepreneurship. There are now approximately 5,000 courses on entrepreneurship, up from 250 back in 1985. There are a few famous college dropouts, including Facebook?s Mark Zuckerberg, that didn?t need a business curriculum to start their companies, and a few lucky students who were selected as part of Peter Thiel?s ?Thiel Fellowship? program, but they are outliers. Zuckerberg was in the right place at the right time and most students don?t get into Thiel?s program. Many students could use the education, network and support of an entrepreneurial institution.

Bills' Johnson drops rap called 'Run It Back'

Ever since the dawn of rap music, NFL players have done their best to try to enter it with their own unique flow and while some fail miserably, some actually do a decent job on the microphone.

The latest entry into the club comes to us from Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson who teamed up with popular rap artist ?The Game? to drops a new single called, ?Run It Back?.

Stevie uses the first two bars of the song to make clever puns on Shawn Merriman and Cam Newton celebratory dances as he drops smooth rhymes from his cell phone:

To be fair to Steve, it wasn?t a terrible effort but it?s still not anywhere near ?Must Be The Money?.

Called GT-Layout, it automatically carves up a photo containing text so that each character becomes a separate image. These sub-images can then be reformatted with line breaks to fit your screen area and preferred level of zoom -- so you don't have to pinch and pan so much and there's no need for OCR. Want to try it? Then you'll have to wait. GT-Layout is reportedly coming in an update to Fujifilm's Dropbox client, GT-Document Lite, but there's no sign of it appearing there just yet.
