Golf Odds: British Open Betting Preview

Tiger Woods has been pegged as the clear favorite on the golf odds at the sportsbooks to win the British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club this week.

Woods is listed at 13/2 at to win the major championship over in England this week. Woods, who leads the FedExCup points standings on the PGA Tour, already has three victories under his belt this season, and he's won the British Open three times over the course of his career.

Woods' most recent British Open title, however, came back in 2006; he also won the event in both 2005 and 2000. Woods last picked up a major title back in 2008 at the U.S. Open, and he was 40th at the Masters and 21st at the U.S. Open this season; Woods didn't play at the British Open last season.

Luke Donald and Lee Westwood are tied for second on the British Open odds at at 12/1, with both of those players looking for their first title at the event. Padraig Harrington, at 16/1 for this week, won the British Open in both 2007 and 2008.

Rory McIlroy is also at 16/1 on the odds to win the British Open, putting him ahead of Justin Rose (25/1), Sergio Garcia (28/1), and each of Dustin Johnson, Francesco Molinari, Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson, and Graeme McDowell (all at 33/1).

Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open winner at St Andrews, is set at 40/1 odds for this week along with Ernie Els, who won this tournament back in 2002 at Muirfield. 2011 champion Darren Clarke (at Royal St George's) and 2009 winner Stewart Cink (at Turnberry) are both 125/1 longshots.

Rickie Fowler (35/1), Adam Scott (40/1), Hunter Mahan (40/1), Ian Poulter (40/1), Jason Dufner (40/1), Jim Furyk (40/1), Matt Kuchar (40/1), and Steve Stricker (40/1) round out the top contenders on the odds to win the British Open at this week.
